The Preservation Society of Marion County is sharing the upcoming absolute auction of a piece of local history: “Mapleton,” built for Sam Spalding, the first county clerk of Marion County in 1834. This article from the 1950s details the home’s early history—originally crafted with bricks fired on-site and timber cut locally, with a grand cherry staircase and Doric-columned portico.
The auction is August 23rd at 10:30 AM at 950 Barbers Mill Road, Lebanon, KY. The 18.5-acre property will be offered in six tracts, including building lots and acreage.
